A Word from Fr. Drummond
From July 5
th
through August 13
th
St. Catherine of
Siena Church will be blessed with the presence of
Seminarian Mick Kelly. Mr. Kelly, age 28, has just
completed his spirituality year. He has a Master’s
Degree in Philosophy from the Franciscan University of
Stubenville and will have at least four years of theology
to go before ordination to the priesthood.
For the Bishop to entrust a seminarian to my care for
the summer is a sign both of confidence and respect,
and I am greatly appreciative of it.
Many may ask, “What can the seminarian actually
do?” Although he has yet not received the ministries of
lector and acolyte, he will still be able to help in many
practical ways – setting up for Mass, assisting with the
altar boys and the CYO, as well as assisting in special
adult education summer presentations.
More important, however, is what we can do for him.
There are many factors that go into the formation of a
future priest, not least is his experience as a
seminarian in the parish. We should make him
welcome and assist him in his response to God’s call in
any way we can, and most especially in our prayers.
PARISH OFFICE CLOSED
Please make note that the Parish Office will be closed on
Tuesday, July 4
th
in observation of Independence Day.

Summer Parish Financial Needs
The summer months always present a challenge for the
parish budget because of fluctuating attendance at
Sunday Mass.
Although it’s great to get away on
vacation, don’t forget the needs of St. Catherine’s while
you are on holiday.
Why not consider giving
electronically? The donation is made automatically and
you do not need to worry about the details. Forms may
be obtained from the parish office.
Currently St.
Catherine’s offers the option of once or twice a month,
made on the 3
rd
and/or the 18
th
of each month through
either electronic transfer via a checking account or by a
credit card.
Parish Stewardship
Thank you for your generous contributions for June 24th

for “Peters Pence” brought in $2,797.50.
The total collection for the poor box for June was
$1,625.39. June’s poor box receipts will go to benefit the
Global Catholic Television Network, (EWTN).

Masses this weekend for the support of their work among
the elderly poor. The Little Sisters conduct St. Joseph’s
Home for the Aged at 1503 Michael Road, Richmond,

cared for the aged who have limited resources. In order
to maintain their home, the Sisters go out daily to solicit
gifts of money and food for their residents. Any help that
you may be able to give them will be greatly appreciated.
