A Word from Fr. Drummond
Last Sunday we enjoyed a double celebration; The
Solemnity of the Body and Blood of Christ as well as
Father’s Day. I would like to express my profound
appreciation to our music director, Neil Weston and his
assistant, Kimberly Hess, as well as the Choir, and the
visiting musicians. The majesty of the music was
accented by the presence of David Carradini, Knight of
the Holy Sepulcher and Lawrence McCarty, Knight of
the Sovereign Order of St. John of Malta. These two
orders of Knighthood date back to the time of the
Crusades.
In addition the Knights of Columbus ably assisted,
particularly in carrying the Canopy during the
Procession of the Blessed Sacrament. I would like to
thank all who contributed to making the Procession a
success.
Finally, I would like to thank Diane Hoyer and Katie
Abruzzino of the Women’s Association for the
wonderful Father’s Day Breakfast. This was an added
treat to an already special day. It never ceases to
amaze and humble me to see the amount of self-giving
work and devotion by the parishioners of St. Catherine,
which sets St. Catherine of Siena Church out as a truly
vibrant witness of our Catholic Faith. May God bless
and keep you all.
FAREWELL - JIM MEEKS
Today marks the last Sunday that our Cantor, Jim
Meeks will be with us. He is moving to St. John The
Beloved in McLean to be the Cantor there, and we wish
him well in his new position. Jim has been a part of the
music program at St. Catherine’s Parish for 10 years,
and he will be sorely missed. His professionalism,
good nature and dedication have been remarkable.
Our prayers and good wishes go with him and his wife,
Carolyn, who has worked tirelessly ‘behind the scenes’
managing the choir library and running a nursery for
many years. We wish them every blessing for the
future.
Eucharistic Adoration and Holy Hour
Adoration is every Wednesday and every First Friday
beginning after the 9:00am Mass and
ends with the reposition of the
Blessed Sacrament at 8:55am the
next day.
Holy Hour is every
Wednesday and every First Friday at
7:30pm. Adorers are always needed.
Please remember to get a
substitute if you are unable to attend. If you are
interested in helping, please contact Anneke at 703-759-
2599.

OPUS DEI
An evening of Recollection from 7:30pm – 9:15pm is
given in the church by a priest of the Opus Dei prelature.
Women meet on the 3
rd
Monday of each month.
Parish Stewardship
Thank you for your generous contributions for June 10th
and 11th. The regular collection brought in $14,954.37,
and the poor box yielded $773.04.
June’s poor box receipts will go to benefit the Global
Catholic Television Network, (EWTN).
Summer Parish Financial Needs
The summer months always present a challenge for the
parish budget because of fluctuating attendance at
Sunday Mass. Although it’s great to get away on
vacation, don’t forget the needs of St. Catherine’s while
you are on holiday.
Why not consider giving
electronically? The donation is made automatically and
you do not need to worry about the details. Forms may
be obtained from the parish office. Currently St.
Catherine’s offers the option of once or twice a month,
made on the 3
rd
and/or the 18
th
of each month through
either electronic transfer via a checking account or by a
credit card.
CHURCH PARKING REQUIREMENTS
Please do not park on the grass or anywhere that isn’t a
designated parking space. There is plenty of parking
available for all Masses. We need to comply with fire
regulations and give our grass and plants a chance to
grow!
Peter’s Pence
This weekend there will be a second collection at all
Masses to support the Holy Fathers pastoral care for the
Church, share the gospel message throughout the world
and assist victims of disaster. This collection enables
the Holy Father to respond with immediate emergency
assistance to those suffering in war, oppression and
natural disasters.
Little Sisters of the Poor
The Little Sisters of the Poor will speak at all Masses this
weekend about their work with the elderly indigent. A
second collection in support of their work will be taken up
at all Masses next weekend, July 2
nd
. Any help that you
may be able to give them will be greatly appreciated.
