A note about Saint Report due dates:

For CCD students: Reports were assigned in December. The preliminary assignment to write a list of four potential saints, and the DRAFT are past due. The final report is due on March 5, 2018 at the beginning of class.

For students who attend Catholic schools, or who are home schooled: Please check all announcements in the weekly bulletin. You should have picked up the Saint Report assignment sheet, and the "Confirmation Preparation" packet from Bishop Burbidge (available outside the Office of Religious Education). The preliminary assignment to list four possible saints is optional for you. The DRAFT is due on March 5, 2018 and the FINAL report is due on April 9, 2018. You may send these to the Office of Religious Education electronically, mail them to the parish, or hand deliver them personally.

Sacrament Preparation

Sacrament preparation is a two-year process.  Preparation for the Sacraments of First Penance and First Holy Communion occurs during the first and second grades. As a rule, First Communion takes place at age 7, the customary “age of reason”.  Hence, children to receive First Holy Communion must be 7 years of age by the end of the final month of the school year (June).

Preparation for the Sacrament of Confirmation occurs in the seventh and eighth grades, and students are confirmed in the fall of the 9th grade year.

If your child has missed a sacrament, please contact us. We are happy to accommodate him or her, according to individual needs.  If one or both parents have not received a sacrament, or would like to learn more about the Catholic Faith, we are happy to help, also.

Confirmation

Those students who will enter high school in the fall of 2018 and have completed their formal 7th and 8th grade catechesis will receive the Sacrament of Confirmation on October 16, 2018 at 7:00 pm. Most Reverend Michael F. Burbidge, Bishop of the Arlington Diocese will be the confirming prelate.

A parent meeting will be announced soon to discuss the requirements for Confirmation. Please check the weekly parish bulletin and this website for details.
