About The Group
The Siena Sacred Music Academy consists of 12 professional singers from the greater Washington DC area, many of whom are members of the armed services bands, teach at area universities or sing professionally in the area. As openings become available, membership is advertised regionally and open to all singers regardless of religious or non-religious affiliation. The purpose of the society is to provide quality classical sacred music weekly to the Parish of St. Catherine of Siena in Great Falls, VA. The Siena Sacred Music Academy also provides music to churches in the Northern Virginia area and to the Great Falls Community through concerts and special events.
The First Fundraising Event
The Society will be holding its first of several fundraising events, a concert of Sacred Music entitled From Glory to Glory: Music from the Church's Spring on Sunday, May 31, 2009 at 3:00 p.m. in the St. Catherine of Siena Church located at 1020 Springvale Road, Great Falls, VA 20066. The program will include sacred choral works from the medieval period to the present and will include works by Lotti, Byrd, Haydn, Bach, Mendelssohn, Vaughan Williams, Stanford, Near and Nestor to name only a few. The concert is open to the public and all are welcome to attend.
Tickets are $25.00 for adults and $10.00 for children and will be available at the door. The concert will be recorded and a CD recording of the concert will also be available for sale for a cost of $25.00 per CD. CD order forms will be available before and after the concert. Lastly, pledge cards will also be available. Suggested levels of pledges are: Director's Circle ($5,000.00), Conductor's Circle ($2,500.00), Choir's Circle ($1,000.00), Patron ($500.00), and Friend ($250.00).
